Quaker City Rewards Young Drivers for Academic Excellence
Inaugural Junior Dragster Explosion, July 4, 2003

Gates Open:   8:30am
Time Trials:    9:00-10:30am
Eliminations:  10:30-1:00pm
Junior Party:  1:00pm

Salem, Ohio - During Quaker City Raceway’s inaugural Junior Dragster Explosion race scheduled for July 4, 2003, children from age 8 to 18 will be rewarded for academic excellence.

Junior dragster competitors that earn a minimum of three ‘A’ grades during the final grading period of the 2003 school year can win major prizes. The new bonus is called the ‘Triple A’ program. It is intended to encourage young drivers at QCR to perform better in school.

“An anonymous racer came forward and showed interest in Quaker City’s adolescent race programs. He made a sizeable contribution to our special event fund for the summer of 2003,” explained Matt Zapp. “Our mutual goal was to create a program that would spark interest in education and drag racing. That’s how the ‘Triple A’ program came to life.”

The ‘Triple A’ bonus program will take place on July 4th during the Junior Explosion race. Racers that have a report card with at least three ‘A’ grades will be rewarded with entrance to the Academic Ice Cream party. Following the Ice Cream social will be a practice tree race at the track pavilion.

The ‘Triple A’ racers will compete on a drag race simulator including a full size practice tree. Just like a real race, drivers will get two practice reaction times and then go into eliminations. The overall race winner will receive a Play Station II gaming system. The runner-up will win a $100 gift certificate to Toys-R-Us. Each of the semifinalists will also win a $50 gift certificate to Toys-R-Us.

Inform your kids that racing is a privilege and education is a must. If they work hard at school and race at Quaker City, great rewards await them during the ‘Triple A’ race on July 4th.
